WingHaven Vaccine Policy

WingHaven Pediatrics Vaccine Policy

As medical professionals, we feel very strongly that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is absolutely the right thing to do for all children and young adults. We strictly follow the schedule published by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

We understand that some families have questions or concerns regarding vaccines. Recently we found an excellent vaccine policy statement in an American Academy of Pediatrics publication. We invite you to read it, as it is a clear, insightful discussion of the issues: cispimmunize.org . Additionally, there is excellent information on the following websites cdc.gov , and www. www. www. aap .org/ .org/ .org/ as well as vaccinesforteens.net . Prior to administering any vaccines, we will discuss those which your child is scheduled to receive, review information about them, and obtain your permission.

Vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.  This is based on scientific evidence from all of the reputable medical literature and multiple studies on vaccines.

Vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health-promoting intervention we perform as health care providers, and that you can perform as parents/caregivers.

Please recognize that by not vaccinating you are putting your child at unnecessary risk for life-threatening illness, disability, and even death.  These vaccine preventable diseases are highly communicable, and we do not want to have unvaccinated children presenting a risk to our newborn babies or other vulnerable patients.  Therefore we require all patients at WingHaven Pediatrics to be vaccinated.

The recent outbreak of measles highlights the need for timely vaccinations.

Thank you for your time in reading this policy.  If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with one of us. We understand that your goal is to provide the best for your child and protect your child's health. This is our goal, too. We are anxious to remove any obstacles or answer any questions to realize this goal together.
